Connecticut River (CT)
 GRS Project

This project will be active from September 2022 until August 2023. Up to 15 Geographic Response Strategies (GRS) will be developed for select areas along the Connecticut River in Connecticut between the MA/CT border and the I-95 overpass at the Connecticut River in Old Lyme/Old Saybrook, CT. Upon conclusion of this project, completed GRS will be available at the Regional Response Team 1 website located here.

Initial Work Group/Site Selection Meeting

Work Group participants will be briefed on project goals and timeline, review the site sensitivity data compiled by Work Group members including the EPA, CT DEEP, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Nuka Research, and identify up to 15 sites for GRS development.

Work Group members will conduct site surveys at multiple predetermined  locations to obtain additional information about each GRS site that will inform the development of tactics, logistics, and other elements.

Tactics Sub-Group Meeting

The Tactics Sub-Group will be comprised of select individuals from the project Work Group with direct experience and expertise in inland spill response, GRS development, and/or in-depth knowledge of the Connecticut River. The Sub-Group will review the draft GRS maps showing the tactics and strategies recommended by the site survey team. Changes to these initial tactics and strategies will be made and the GRS will be updated prior to final review by the Work Group.
